Still in Anacortes

We had certainly hoped to be on the water heading into BC by now.  As always there is a lot to do to get ready for the season after a cold winter on the hard.

We started with a water leak that flooded the bilge.  Found out we had a cracked accumulator.  Fred just removed it from the line.

Then we tried to get our Ocens email up and running. The Norton Safelock is blocking it. For those of you that know our email addresses, use them.

We went to Costco with a lot of heavy stuff to load onto the boat. Since the boat is on blocks high off the ground we thought we would use the davit to load supplies into the cockpit.  We were halfway done when the davit would extend but not retract. After studying the manual and  internet  search Fred decided we needed a new solenoid.  We played hell trying to find the correct ones for a 21 year old boat.  Finally Amazon came to the rescue.  There has been a water leak that has rusted one of them so we will replace the two of them. We are waiting for them to arrive.

We purchased a new alternator.  The generator charged the batteries very slowly last year.  The first problem was that Fred removed the old alternator last year and now he couldn’t remember how to reinstall the new one.  Then he had an epiphany and installed the alternator without further difficulty.

The last thing is that the boat is filthy from being stored outside last winter. We had requested that the boat yard wash the boat before we got here.  When we arrived the boat was in a storage yard that doesn’t allow  working on the boat or washing. We were quite annoyed and said that we cannot launch until the boat is clean.  So now the plan is to move Emerald Star tomorrow to the main boatyard to wash it and then launch on Thursday.
